Education charity, Ambition Institute, is on a mission to develop teaching practice and we have partnered with them. New NPQ ‘Leading Behaviour and Culture’ is one of many courses on offer that can build your expertise in leadership. In 12 months, participants will gain knowledge in behaviour management and discover how to create a culture within a school where staff and pupils can thrive.
Your school can benefit from one of a series of new, specialist NPQs, and the introduction of a common framework for teacher development and training that is facilitated by experienced educators.

Using the latest evidence-based learning, this course shows you how to apply knowledge and put your learning into practice. You will be taught alongside other teachers from similar schools.
A complete series of NPQs has been rolled out by Ambition Institute, which share a common language. This means you can have the confidence that all the educators in your school are building and developing their knowledge from the same frameworks of evidence-based practice.
Ambition Institute understand the complexities of working within schools. Therefore, the programmes are designed with flexibility in mind, allowing you to complete modules when it best suits you. Through Steplab – the innovative personal development platform built for teachers, by teachers – access will be granted to your modules and practice activities, helping you to develop easily and efficiently.

Develop and apply your knowledge in leading behaviour and culture, to engage and motivate staff and pupils, as well as reduce disruption in classrooms.
Learn to think beyond managing individual classrooms and develop school-wide systems and processes to support pupils and get the best out of them.
This is a flexible programme, designed to fit around your teaching role. Much of the work can be completed in small sections and can complement your existing schedule.
This programme will contain a number of teachers who work in a similar school environment to yourself. This gives you the opportunity to share personal experiences, as well as build a valuable support network.
Creating a positive school environment means pupils are more likely to succeed. Leadership and culture awareness are key to providing an encouraging school experience for pupils, driven by model behaviour and a consistent approach to rules and rewards.
By investing in staff development, you will be supporting teachers and increasing their workplace satisfaction. This positivity will filter down to the classroom, helping create happy and motivated pupils.
Ambition Institute’s NPQs are designed to fit around existing timetables. By delivering learning in short, sharp bursts, your teachers can develop and continue their work schedules harmoniously. Participants can find time that best suits them to complete their weekly, online units.
Drive behavioural and cultural change across your school with a programme that fits with other development courses. All of Ambition Institute’s NPQs are aligned. Teachers and leaders who complete them share a common language and framework, creating synergy of teaching practices throughout your school.
Learning will be conducted alongside other teachers whose working contexts are similar. Teaching is facilitated by experienced trainers who know and understand your needs.
This programme follows the Department of Education’s National Professional Qualification (NPQ): Leading Behaviour and Culture Framework.
On this programme, you will learn how to:
The content is delivered through blended learning. This includes a mix of real-time, interactive online sessions and self-guided modules you complete in your own time. The programme includes facilitator-led sessions with your peer group that focus on decision making.

Assessment windows begin post completion of the 12-month programme and run for three months. During this period, participants will be assigned an eight-day window to sit an ‘open book’ style assessment, in which they respond to a short case study.
Two assessment windows take place each year and, if needed, participants can sit the assessment a second time.
Completion of the course is needed in order to qualify for the NPQ accreditation.
Ambition Institute offers extra support prior to the assessment period, including webinars and live clinics.
All teachers and leaders employed in state-funded schools, as well as those employed in state-funded organisations that offer 16 to 19 places in England can access a fully-funded NPQ. This applies to all Specialist and Leadership NPQs.
In some cases, staff without a Teaching Reference Number (TRN) can also qualify for a fully-funded NPQ (e.g. a non-teaching pastoral colleague). Contact us and we will support you through the steps required to register and access this funding.
Access to funding remains conditional on successful validation of participants’ registration information against Teaching Regulation Agency records, so you must ensure that the information supplied to your NPQ provider matches your teacher record.
If you are not eligible for scholarship funding, you can still undertake an NPQ and should contact us directly to discuss your options.
