Education charity, Ambition Institute, has become our latest partner. Together we will deliver the new NPQ for Leading Teaching. Participants will complete the course over a 12-month period and discover what outstanding teaching entails. The knowledge learnt will help participants become high-performing leaders of teaching. Having new, specialist NPQs, gives your school access to the latest learning and ensures you retain exceptional teaching talent.
The newly designed NPQ, by Ambition Institute, is ground-breaking in its mission to develop the participants’ knowledge and understanding of what excellent classroom teaching looks like.
Based on evidence-based learning, this programme shows you how to put your findings into practice to benefit your own school environment. Working alongside other teaching professionals will expand your learning and relate similar challenges and circumstances to one another.
Have confidence that all the educators in your school are building and developing their knowledge from the same evidence-based framework. This reformed NPQ is a complete series, sharing a common language, so teachers can experience the breadth of the course and implement a synergy of teaching practice within your school.
Designed with flexibility and convenience in mind, Ambition Institute’s programmes can be completed at a time that fits in with your existing role.
The innovative personal development platform built for teachers, by teachers, Steplab gives you access to your modules and practice activities to advance your learning efficiently.

What makes an effective teacher? Delve into the intricate details of what good teaching looks like, learn how you can lead others, and gain knowledge from others.
Whether you need to develop your knowledge, or maximise your impact, this programme allows you to dissect and apply learning in teaching, curriculum and assessment – and to support others to develop in these areas.
Grow and thrive as a teacher by applying yourself to ongoing professional development that will help you achieve more. Gain a professional accreditation by following an evidence-based framework.
Fit your training around you. This programme is designed to fit around your professional schedule and much of the work can be completed in bite-size chunks.
Your training will be conducted alongside other teachers from similar school contexts, meaning you can share experiences and build a strong support network.
By joining this programme, all teachers will benefit from an evidence-based framework. As the NPQs all align, you can create synergy in your school teaching practice. With a common language, other NPQ participants can pass on knowledge to colleagues.
Pupil outcomes will improve as evidence-based teaching practices are applied in the classroom.
Build the future of your school by creating competent and knowledgeable teachers, who will have the confidence to apply for middle or senior positions within your establishment when they arise.
Invest in the future of your teachers by building their confidence and nurturing their talents in specialist areas. Supported staff who are given the opportunity to develop their skills and progress are less likely to apply for jobs elsewhere.
Training will occur alongside other professionals, meaning your staff get the opportunity to learn from others and develop further.
This programme follows the Department for Education’s National Professional Qualification (NPQ): Leading Teaching Framework.

The content is delivered through blended learning. This includes a mix of real-time interactive sessions, face-to-face training, peer-led sessions and self-guided modules you complete in your own time.

On finishing the 12-month programme your assessment period will begin. The assessment period runs for three months, and during this time participants will be assigned an eight-day window to take an ‘open book’ assessment, in which they respond to a short case study.
Every year, there are two assessment windows, and if participants need to, they can sit the assessment twice.
It is a requirement to complete the course in order to qualify for the NPQ accreditation.
Ambition Institute offer a webinar and live clinic, in preparation for the assessment period, to support participants.
All teachers and leaders employed in state-funded schools, as well as those employed in state-funded organisations that offer 16 to 19 places in England can access a fully-funded NPQ. This applies to all Specialist and Leadership NPQs.
In some cases, staff without a Teaching Reference Number (TRN) can also qualify for a fully-funded NPQ (e.g. a non-teaching pastoral colleague). Contact us and we will support you through the steps required to register and access this funding.
Access to funding remains conditional on successful validation of participants’ registration information against Teaching Regulation Agency records, so you must ensure that the information supplied to your NPQ provider matches your teacher record.
If you are not eligible for scholarship funding, you can still undertake an NPQ and should contact us directly to discuss your options.
To apply, you must be a teacher who has, or is aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading teaching in a subject, year group, key stage or phase.
